On October 11, 2025, the Seventh Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Nanjing University Doctoral Forum on Art Studies was successfully held on Gulou Campus, Nanjing University. Organized by the School of Arts at Nanjing University and co-organized by the School of Arts at Peking University and the Department of Art History at the Academy of Arts and Design at Tsinghua University, the forum brought together more than twenty faculty members and students from the three institutions to engage in in-depth discussions on the theme of "Materiality, Symbols, and Artistic Production."
The opening ceremony was hosted by Professor Zhou Jiwu, Director of the Department of Art Theory and Creativity at the School of Arts, Nanjing University. It featured addresses by Professor Chen Anying, Director of the Department of Art History at the Academy of Arts and Design, Tsinghua University; Associate Professor Tang Hongfeng (tenured), Vice Dean of the School of Arts, Peking University; and Professor Zhao Kuiying, Dean of the School of Arts, Nanjing University.
Following the opening remarks, the forum delved into the main theme with keynote speeches by Professor Chen Anying, Associate Professor Tang Hongfeng, and Associate Professor Gao Xin. Subsequently, four roundtable forums were conducted, each focusing on a specific aspect of the theme.
At the closing ceremony, Professor Zhou Jiwu highly praised the insightful presentations by the doctoral students and declared the forum a resounding success. He expressed gratitude to all participants and organizers and looked forward to the next forum, which will be held at Peking University next year.
